Inspiring Communities, Transforming Futures
Project Chetana: An Urban Health Program & NCDs Orientation Program is a nationwide initiative by the National Health Action Force Nepal (NHAFN). Launched in December 2024, the project targets urban populations with structured orientation sessions centered on chronic respiratory diseases (CRDs), with a particular focus on the role of smoking and tobacco use as primary risk factors.
The program operates across two phases for now, an initial CRD Orientation phase to build community awareness, followed by an active Screening phase to identify at-risk individuals and facilitate timely referral and care. Project Chetana reflects NHAFN's broader commitment to combating the rising burden of chronic respiratory disease in Nepal through education, early detection, and sustained community engagement.
The project is currently 30% complete and ongoing.
